Center for African Writing, Art, Development and Cultural Exchange

Founded by Paul Ugbede, the Center for African Writing, Art, Development and Cultural Exchange is dedicated to the development, promotion, and preservation of African dramatic arts. Through workshops, residencies, and cross-cultural exchanges, the Centre provides emerging and established playwrights with the tools, networks, and platforms needed to tell Africa’s stories to the world.

What We Offer

Playwriting Masterclasses

Intensive workshops covering dramatic structure, dialogue, character development, and the art of crafting compelling stage narratives rooted in African storytelling traditions.

Group Workshops

Collaborative sessions at festivals and cultural gatherings including the Lagos Theatre Festival, Lagos Fringe Festival, and events across Africa.
